It's been a couple of days since I posted an article, mainly because I've just been too busy working on other things. Yeah, most bloggers have a life outside of cyberspace; however there are times when you just can't think of anything to write about. It's called "writer's block" and it affects bloggers, too. I've noticed a couple of my friends (who shall remain nameless) have nearly given up on keeping their blog content fresh; and then they complain that no one leaves comments anymore. I'm almost at the point of removing some of them from my Google Reader, just to trim the number of subscriptions and keep me from wondering "what's wrong with so-and-so?"
Being a WordPress fan, I was surfing the internet this evening and found Lorelle on WordPress, a lady who evidently is a huge fan of the free WordPress.com blogging platform. By the way, I would happily recommend WordPress to anyone who is considering their first-time blog or reassessing their reasons for trying to blog on MySpace or some other ridiculous substitute for a proper blog. Please pardon the digression and check out Lorelle's excellent article on "Blogging Tips :: Hundreds of Resources for Finding Content for Your Blog." She has posted a gold mine of places to get your creative juices flowing again, even for those who write primarily for a Christian audience.
I know you're not Tim Challies, who must be looking for a place in the Guinness Books of Records for the longest consecutive blogging streak known to mankind, but you really need to write once a week or twice a week would be better. Be sure and tag your articles for the webcrawlers, so that if people are looking for the freshest article on "Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Predestinarianism" (some of you seminary guys are going, "Yeah, baby, where can I find that one?") they can find your blood, sweat, and tears online.
Let's go blogging!
A couple of months ago I went on a book and blogging fast, concentrating all of my intellectual energy in reading the Bible. It was rewarding – so much so that I had a hard time getting back in the swing once I resumed. Since then it has been on and off, mostly chronicling my own thinking through specific subjects (most recently the problem of evil and the cosmic extent of the atonement).
I’m going to start tonight or tomorrow asking questions and thinking through the sovereignty of God. I’ve given up any visions of being a blog star, and am now content to play my own ideas (and occasional ripped off ideas or Monty Python video)and if someone wants to stop and listen or comment…that’s good. If not, good too.
It is interesting that since I’ve taken that approach, my visits per day have doubled. Now I have EIGHT people looking at my blog every day. (maybe I should rethink that blogstar thing…)
Speaking of which…
