We’re completing our holiday in the United States with a few lazy days in the Great Smokey Mountains. Our mountain cabin is just a couple hundred feet over the western North Carolina border near Dillard, Georgia. The weather is stunning today: bright blue skies with a few fluffy clouds scattered around and the signature blue haze of this well-known American mountain range.
Our Welsh friends have enjoyed their introduction to the United States of America, covering the states of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina. They have been intrigued by the wide open spaces and the purchasing power of the British pound against the U. S. dollar (this morning the rate was $1.98 to £1.00), making this a relatively cheap holiday compared to Americans spending the same time in Britain.
Our flight back to Wales begins on Thursday afternoon from the Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, just two hours south of our present location. We’ll arrive in Bristol early Friday morning. Not looking forward to the jet lag—always a killer on the return trip—but looking forward to getting home.
Bill-
What a surprise today to find you on WordPress. I lost contact with you a few years back. Great to know you’re enjoying the exchange rate on your euros and had a great vacation in the States.
Visit my site and leave a message. I started my blog in March and now wondered why I delayed so long. I have added you to my blogroll and hope you will return the favor. It is a challenge to speak into the blogosphere with what some have called “naked communication”, but we do have the greatest communication of all to write about.
